GUNC Stars Reach Field Guide
Stars Reach: What to do after Haven
Pick something that sounds useful, read the short overview, and open the full guide when you want the details.
Mayor Bob's tools are enough to get started. This page gives you a quick look at missions, crafting, farming, mining, combat, skills, camps, GovBot, homesteads, building, and NewsNet.
Step-by-step field notes
Use Mayor Bob's kit before spending Klaatu on duplicates.
Harvest some plants, do a little mining, and keep useful creature drops.
A few small crafts help with building, planting, paving, and terrain work.
Terraformer, Harvester, and Grav Mesh take a much larger pile of materials.
After that, follow what interested you most: missions, a profession, township work, combat, or a homestead.
Mayor Bob gives you the Grapple and Pathfinder. Their basic versions are fine. Buy a Trailblazer or BioScanner when you want one; neither needs a special PQRV build to be useful.
Mayor Bob gives you a Pulsar, Terraformer, and Harvester. Use those first. Thunderclap is another 2,000 Klaatu starter option. Craft replacements later, once you know which PQRV effects matter to you.
Make these when you have a job for them. Healix is for healing and can wait until you need one. The other tools in this group aren't part of Mayor Bob's kit.
These four plants give you several materials used by the early recipes below.
Iron and Chromium cover most early metal needs. Cadmium, Chert, and rare gems can wait until you are working toward Grav Mesh.
Keep Bone and Hide when they drop. You'll need Bone for Harvester parts and Hide for Terraformer parts.
Useful once you are ready to place and work with crafted building pieces.
A useful building tool once you have blocks ready to place.
Adds material back to the world when a dig or build needs it.
Made for cutting down or planting trees.
Learn Seed Planting in the Botany skill tree to unlock this recipe for planting trees and other flora.
Worth making when you have Road Tiles ready for paths and public routes.
Use Mayor Bob's Terraformer until you have the materials for a version with better PQRV effects.
Mayor Bob's Harvester is enough to start. The full recipe uses a lot of material, so wait until you want better PQRV effects.
Grav Mesh takes far more material than the other tools here. Its refined parts come in large batches, so you will have extras for later.
Make Repair Kits early and keep some with you. Tools and weapons lose durability through normal use, and an item at 0 durability cannot be used until it is repaired. To repair one, hold the item and use a Repair Kit on it. Its maximum durability will eventually reach 0, and then you will need to craft, trade for, or buy a replacement.
